Randal “Randy” Ramsey, 51, Bedford, passed away on Wednesday at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Bedford on Nov. 24, 1960, to Ramon and Zelda (England) Ramsey.
Randy attended BNL High School and was a Planer man at Indiana Limestone Company, he was a member of ABATE, Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club, and of the Stonecutters Union.
Survivors include his parents, Ramon and Zelda Ramsey of Bedford; one brother, Ricky (Sherrie) Ramsey of Mitchell; one sister, Christina Hardman of Mitchell; and four nieces and nephews, Natasha Hains, Joshua Hardman, Destiny Duke and Devon Hardman.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the Grace Full Gospel Church in Bedford.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the service today at the church.
Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Nellie Elizabeth Cornett, 85, of Williams, died at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at her residence.
Born May 1, 1927, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Beasley) Williams. She married Fred Cornett and he preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2010.
She retired as the postmaster at the Williams Post Office and was a member of the Williams First Baptist Church.
Survivors include children, Randy Cornett and wife Rachel of Williams, Gaye Chapman of Bedford, Jan Skeen and husband Tom of Williams, and Marc Cornett of Bloomington; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Sue Whiteman of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and three children (in infancy).
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Williams Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until the service on Saturday at the mortuary.

Mary Ellen (Thomas) Wade, age 63, of Mitchell, passed away on Tuesday at her residence.
She was born on Oct. 18, 1948, in Burns City to William Edward and Neva Grace (Webster) Thomas. She married George Robert Wade on May 8, 1965, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 2000.
She attended school at Elnora.
Mary Ellen retired from S&S Cleaners in Bedford.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Wade and wife Barbie of Shoals, and Scott Wade and wife Jolynn of Mitchell; one brother, Bill Thomas of Scotland; two sisters, Carol Byrer and husband Jim of Odon, and Linda Thomas of Vincennes; grandchildren, Chris, Nick and Caroline, James, Ethan, Emily, Jake, Delaney, Dalton, Gracie, Sawyer and Sophie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Larry Tomey; one sister, Betty Bough; and one sister-in-law Eva Thomas.
Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday with remembrance sharing at 7 p.m. at Cresthaven Funeral Home.

Hazel Smallwood, 89, of Norman, passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Monday at her home.
Born April 19, 1923 in West Virginia, she was a daughter of Connie and Mary (Roberts) Lowman. She married Dan Smallwood on May 23, 1942, and he preceded her in death in September of 2008.
She was a member of the Kurtz Church of the Nazarene and was a housewife.
She enjoyed reading, farming and cooking for her family.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna J. (Roger) Patton of Bedford; one brother, David Lowman of Florida; two sisters, Norma Whitehead and Viola Sparks, both of California; three grandchildren, Cindy Augspurg, Julie Benton and Christina White; five great-grandchildren, Austin Benton, Blake Benton, Annette Slate, Jasmine White and Brandon White; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws
She was preceded in death by her husband; seven brothers; one sister; and her parents
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown with Floyd Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Kurtz Cemetery.

Fronnia Pearl (Jones) Smith, 61, Whiteland, was born Aug. 14, 1951, and went home to be with the Lord on Monday after a long illness.
Surviving are her children, Danena Cooper and Anthony Smith (Becky Clayton); five grandchildren, Meghan, Jacob, Karina, Paige and Haley; and one great-grandchild, her namesake, Airelle Pearl.
Fronnia was the daughter of the late Arlie Jones; and her mom, Ioda Jones of Monticello, Ky., survives along with siblings, Brenda (William) Morrow of Bronston, Ky, Sonny (Julia) Jones of Glenada, Fla., Donna (Bobby) Skeen and John (Pam) Jones of Bedford, Tressa (Vaughn) Aylward, Lana (Joe) Theabeault of Phoenix, Ariz., Roger and Linda Smith of Hilliard, Ohio; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding her in death was her dad, Arlie Jones; a brother, Arlie Dale Jones; infant twins, Elbur and Elva; and other friends and relatives.
She was of the Baptist faith and will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved her.
There will be a celebration of life at 2 p.m. on Sept. 15 at the Bedford Baptist Temple. Everyone is invited to come and share this time with us.

Frances Irene (Mills) Brown passed away on Tuesday at Garden Villa in Bloomington. She was 92 years old.
She was born in Bedford, to Cyrus and Carrie Bell (Speer) Mills. She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Brown in Bedford. They celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on June 24, 2012.
Frances was an avid gardener and loved hand embroidery. She was a member of the Fairview Elementary PTA in Bloomington.
Frances is survived by her daughter Dianna “Casey” (husband John David) Maas,; two grandchildren, Jessica Maas and Eric Maas; and one great-grandchild; Alex Maas.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur on July 18, 2012; four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, also at the funeral home. Burial in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Jerry Atkinson

Jerry Atkinson, age 66, passed away at his home in Terre Haute on Monday.
He was born in Paoli on Dec. 28, 1945, to Gene and Betty Mayden Atkinson.
Jerry graduated from Mitchell High School in 1964. A gifted artist, Jerry used his talent in his career as an engineer. He was a design engineer for Press Seal Gasket Co. in Fort Wayne and retired in 2008. Jerry designed and built extrusion molds including the molds used to create the gaskets for modern car doors. Trained in drafting and CAD technology, Jerry was fortunate enough to travel nationwide on behalf of the industry.
Jerry married his wife Carol Foltz on June 6, 1968.
He was an honest man who never left one guessing on where they stood with him. He will be remembered for many reasons but by many as the loyal and compassionate caretaker of his late father Gene.
Jerry was loved and will be missed by his wife of 44 years, Carol Atkinson; son, Kevin Eric Atkinson of Hartford City; daughters, Jennifer Nicole Atkinson of Terre Haute and Jaime Lynn (Justin) Alter of Kokomo; grandchildren, Aidan and Lillian Alter; brother, Bradley Gene (Cheryl L.) Atkinson of Centerville; sisters, Patricia Atkinson (Monte Rager) of Orleans, Amy Lynn (Rob) Parker of Mitchell, and Charlotte Rose Atkinson (Bud Kirkman) of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Betty, and brother, Eric Lee Atkinson.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Thomas Funeral Home, 2200 N. 13th Street, Terre Haute, with Rev. Friar John Bamman OFM Conv. officiating. Cremation to follow.

Jackie A. Spires of Moore Haven, Fla., died Aug. 6, 2012, in Okeechobee, Fla., from heart disease.
Jack was born Dec. 7, 1928, in East Oolitic, to Lucille Byrd and Glen Spires.
He was a faithful member of AA who proudly attended and served in groups and meetings for 40 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and was of the Christian faith.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Callie; his sister, Angela; his parents; and grandparents.
He is survived by three sisters, Louise (Hubert) Fox of Bloomington, Marilyn (Chet) Shively of Heltonville, and Marsha (Vern) Kirkman of Orleans; and a brother, Louis Spires of Florida. He is also survived by two daughters, Clarissa (Vern) Cole of Wyoming, and Linda (John) Stinson of California; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the East Oolitic Community Church. There will be a private family burial.

Robert W. “Rabbi” Bourland, 69, of Bedford, died at 10 a.m. on Sunday at his residence.
Born June 18, 1943, in Lawrence County, he was the son of William S. and Agnes (Gyger) Bourland.
He was a hydraulics engineer for Idra in Kokomo.
He was a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club, V.F.W., Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion and National Guard.
He loved to play Santa Claus for all children.
Survivors include a daughter, Luann Smith and husband Steve of Simpsonville, S.C.; a grandson, Garrett Baker of Simpsonville, S.C.; three sisters, Betty Bourland, Pat Bruin and Jeri Cain, all of Bedford; five nieces, Annette Warnick and husband Bob, Sherri Sons and husband Louie and Carri Smith, all of Bedford, Michelle Brown and husband Brian of Newburg, and Susan Cannon of Cynthiana, Ky.; several great-nieces, nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Lesia Cox; and a great-niece, Jessica Case.
Funeral service will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the service on Wednesday at the mortuary.

Patricia Helen Bowman, 77, of Spencer, passed away Thursday at Owen Valley Health Campus.
She was born on Aug. 11, 1935, in Switz City, to Harry B. and Viola (Burch) Fulk.
She was retired from Bio-Med of Bloomington in 2009.
Patricia was a member of the Pleasant Hill Church. She enjoyed doing many different crafts in her spare time.
Mrs. Bowman is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald G. Bowman; brothers, Bill N. (Gloria) Fulk and Ralph W. (Karen) Fulk, all of Spencer; and sisters, Mary Rose Heaton of Spencer and Josie “Jo” (Gary) Simpson of Bedford.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Harry J., Thomas M., Donald H., and Carl B. Fulk.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home in Spencer. Jeff Fulk will officiate. Burial will follow at Splinter Ridge Cemetery.

Lois Chenault, 85, of Springville, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford. Lois was born on July 14, 1927, in Monroe County to George and Grace (Stroud) Williams. She married Dale Chenault on February 22, 1946, and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1997. Lois was of the Protestant faith. She retired from Bedford Medical Center, where she worked in central supply, and she also had worked at M. Fine & Sons in Bedford.
Lois loved to read and was a history buff. She wrote poetry. She was a beloved mother and will be sadly missed by her family.
Survivors include daughters, Dale Ann Johnson and husband Ken of Bedford, Dorothy Godsey and husband Roy of Bedford, Cheryl Godsey and husband Lloyd of Springville, Shawn Browning and husband Barry of Bedford; nine grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Gayle Lynn Priddy; sister and brothers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 27, 2012, at Cresthaven Funeral Home.

Lovetta Marguerite Baldwin, 90, of Bedford, died at 11:36 a.m. on Thursday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 13, 1922, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Ralph and Eula (Love) Mikels. She married Kenneth Baldwin on April 28, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2005. She retired from GM as a machine operator.
She was a member of the Heltonville Veterans, a former Private in the Women’s Army Corps and attended the Free Methodist Church in Bedford.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Brooking and husband Eddie, of Bedford; three sons, Gary Baldwin and wife Karen, of Bedford, Dale Baldwin and wife Sharon and Dennis Baldwin and wife Tina, all of Norman; a son-in-law, Alton Qualkenbush of Bedford; grandchildren, Lisa Parsley and husband Jason of Bedford, Mike Brooking and wife Christie of Martinsville, Michelle Hicks and husband Brian, Michael Baldwin and wife Megan, Mendy Mullis and husband Isaiah, and Elizabeth Mathews and husband Jarrid, all of Bedford, and Whitney Baldwin, Nathalie Holley and Tiger Baldwin, all of Norman; great-grandchildren, Cole and Victoria Brooking, both of Martinsville, and Megan and Mariah Hicks and Madeline Baldwin, all of Bedford; a sister, Frieda Wright of Hemet, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Nellie Mikels of Bedford and Norma Mikels of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert E. Woods, 90, of Spring City, Tenn., died at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday at his residence.
Born April 28, 1922, in Medora, he was the son of Daniel Wirt Woods and Grace (Johnson) Woods. He married Dorothy L. Louden; and she preceded him in death in 1995. He then married Ella Mathis; and she preceded him in death in 2009.
He retired from General Motors in Marion in 1987.
He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, and was part of the 275 Cannon Company 70th Division, having served in France and Germany.
Surviving are his two daughters, Kay (Walter) Norris of Mooresville, and Patty (Arthur) Guthrie of Bedford; one stepdaughter, Pat (Nolan) Brown; two stepsons, Dwight (Linda) Mathis, and Royce Mathis, all of Spring City, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Clint Norris, Jeff Norris, Bryan Guthrie, Amy Norris and Mary Burton; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Loyett Harrison of Medora, Wynona Lienhoop of Columbus, and Peggy (Floyd) Meahl of Vallonia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; one stepdaughter, Gail Haynes; three brothers, Harlan, Buddy and Talmadge Woods; and one sister, Rosetta Fish.

Mary Margaret “Margie” Miller, 82, of Springville, passed away early Wednesday morning at her residence with her family by her side.
Margie was born July 17, 1930, in Lexington, Ky., to Lankford Henry Seward Sr. and Nancy Stocker Seward.
She began her working career as a waitress, moving on to be a line operator at General Electric Electronics Division and finally ending her career with her family business, The SASSI Institute as co-founder and receptionist.
Margie was a member of the University Baptist Church in Bloomington, was an avid reader, bird lover, passionate about her African violets and will be remembered fondly by her family as a very colorful character.
Margie leaves behind her husband of 53 years, Dr. Glenn A. Miller of Springville; son, Clarence K. “Chuck” Miller and wife Betty of Bedford; daughter, Nancy S. Preston and companion Robert Martin of Springville; daughter, Melissa Renn of Springville; granddaughter, Pearl Burch of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson, Wesley J. Miller of Bloomington; grandson, Sr. Master Sgt. Aaron W. Renn of Beale AFB, Calif.; granddaughter, Jennifer M. Harris of Borden; step granddaughter, Mandy Colvin of Bedford; step grandson, Randy Skeen Jr. of Heltonville; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Lankford H. Seward Jr., of Lexington, Ky.; sister, Patricia Lee Stivers of Palmetto, Fla.; brother, the Rev. Lewis K. Seward and wife Lucille of Springville; brother, Victor W. Seward and wife Ida of Harrodsburg, Ky.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Seward; as well as 20 nieces and nephews.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Thomas Edwin Seward.
Margie’s charismatic manner enriched the lives of all she came in contact with through her unusual way of loving. Her emotional generosity will be truly missed by all.

Born March 12, 1955, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Earl C. and Edith Jacquline (Jackie) (Alsip) Holbrook. He married Sharon Scott on July 22, 1989, and she survives.
He retired from G.E. in Bloomington and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He attended the First Baptist Church. He was a life-time member of the N.R.A. and an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
He loved his grandchildren and his dog, Daisy.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Bedford; a son, James Michael Holbrook and wife Amy Lynn of Bedford; Carol Ann and Tyler (who were raised in the home); three brothers, David Holbrook and wife Tara of Bloomington, Dwight Holbrook and wife Nancy of Oaktown and Vincent Holbrook and Lori Moore of Ellettsville; two sisters, Donna Gronski of Evansville and Regina Terry and husband Monte of Bedford; in-laws, Bill and Carol Scott of Bedford; three grandchildren, A.J., Cameron and Sarah Holbrook; several nieces and nephews.

Claude E. Parsons, 84, of Bedford, died at 7:13 p.m. on Monday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Aug. 1, 1928, in West Baden Springs, he was the son of Elvis Parsons and Lillian (Tomlinson) Stevens. He married Peggy Chenoweth on Dec. 25, 1950, and she survives.
He was a past editor and a feature writer for the Times-Mail and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Evening Lions Club, Elks Club and Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy, of Bedford; two daughters, Rhonda O’Brien and husband Pat and Doreen Embree and husband Duane, all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Brandon, Clayton and Logan O’Brien, Luke (Christina) Embree, Neil (Jessica) Embree and Jennifer (Chad) Edwards; and ten great-grandchildren, Josie and Avery O’Brien, Jarrett Fortner, Hannah, Naomi and Caleb Embree, Scotlyn and Harper Embree, Claire and Natalie Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Born Nov. 4, 1983, in Bloomington, he was the son of Troy Yeskie and Janet (Hovious) Johnson.
He was a tree trimmer with Electricom.
He attended the Dive Christian Church and loved hunting, spending time with his kids and riding his 4-wheeler.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, Troy and Francisca Yeskie of Bedford; his mother, Janet Johnson of Ellettsville; children, Austin Lee Matthew Yeskie and Alexis Marie Yeskie; sister, Tricia Wilson and husband David of Ellettsville; four brothers, Jeremy Yeskie and wife Sarah of Bloomington and Matthew Yeskie, Mateo Sorita-Yeskie and T.J. Yeskie, all of Bedford; four nephews, Dallas, David and Daniel Wilson and Grant Yeskie; a niece, Journey Yeskie; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Hovious of Florida; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold Yeskie and June Yeskie; and maternal grandfather, David Hovious.

Richard F. Mount, 85, formerly of Bedford, died on Thursday at Indian Oaks Living Center in Harker Heights, Texas.
Born April 21, 1927, in Bedford, he was the son of Roscoe and Myrl Mount.
He married Kathryn Yarling on Aug. 17, 1952 in Danville, and they had two children. Kathryn preceded him in death.
He earned his BA from Canterbury College, Danville, in 1950; and his MS from Butler University, Indianapolis, in 1954.
Richard spent 11 years working in Saudi Arabia for Aramco Oil Company before returning to Bedford in 1970. He was the principal of Parkview Elementary School and retired in 1992 as the Director of Curriculum for North Lawrence Schools. He loved being an educator.
Locally, he served on the Bedford Parks Board, Bedford Public Library Board, and Kenray Lot Association.
He was a member of Free Methodist Church of Bedford and LifeWay Fellowship of Killeen, Texas.
He also served in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. Mount II and Becky (Rynders) Mount of Clover, S.C.; and his daughter, Julie Mount of Killeen, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens, with military rites accorded by the American Legion Gillen Post No. 33.

Charles was an U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart for his service in France.

Our loving Wife, Mother, and Mamaw, Bertice “Bertie” Mae Bell, 76, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Garden Villa Health Care Center at 11:50 p.m. surrounded by her husband of more than 60 years, Philip L. Bell Sr., children and grandchildren.
Bertie was born on September 5, 1935, to Matt and Erie (Vibbert) Walker in Somerset, KY. Bertie had worked at Sarkes-Tarzian, Bloomington Hospital, and retired from Indiana University as breakfast and head cook of Sigma Delta Tau and A E Phi sororities. She was a member of the Westside Pentecostal Church in Bloomington where she served as secretary and song leader as well as singing on the local radio broadcast for many years.
Bertie is survived by her loving husband, Philip L. Bell Sr.; son, Philip Bell Jr. and wife Colleen of Bloomington; daughters, Nena Evans and husband Charles of Ellettsville, Katrena Cunningham and husband Joe of Bedford, Darla Covey and husband Tim and Selena Sartin and husband Troy, all of Bloomington; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister, June Duval and husband Jim of Indianapolis; and brothers, Rawlin and Donnie Walker of Bloomington and Ron of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Staria Bell; grandsons, Jeremy Evans and Ron “Dino” Rainey; three brothers; and two sisters.

Robert “Bobby” C. Prashaw, 64, of Bloomington, Ind., and formerly of Massena, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2012. Bobby was born on October 4, 1947, in Massena, N.Y., the son of Elwood and Helen (Fitzgerald) Prashaw. He served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves after graduation from high school. He was employed by General Motors for 39 and a half years, first at the Massena plant, then at the Bedford plant. He retired in 2008 from GM as the UAW Local 440 shop chairman. Throughout his GM years, he also had jobs in production and as a truck driver. Bobby, also known as “The Grizz” to some of his friends, loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was a great storyteller. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter, son-in-law and new granddaughter. He was an avid golfer. In his younger years, he played hockey, softball and for the Massena Warriors football team. He also coached various youth hockey teams in Massena and Bloomington. Bobby was married to and divorced from Linda Orosz, with whom he shared a daughter, Lisa. He was then married to and divorced from Kim Wood. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Prashaw) and Chris Romeo and granddaughter, Raegan Romeo, all of Massena. Also, he is survived by his nephews, Chuck and Kevin Chambers of Boonville, N.Y., and Mark Chambers of Tampa, Fla. Bobby was predeceased by a sister, Carol Chambers, in January 2012.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2012, at Sacred Heart Church in Massena with Rev. Donald J. Manfred presiding. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massena. He was an electrician and a member of IBW Local No. 16.
His hobbies included trading, hunting, and fishing.

Susan L. Fortner, 63, of Elwood, died Wednesday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a battle with lupus.
She was born Nov. 8, 1948, in Mitchell, the daughter of Ray G. and Edna (Miller) Merry.
She was a homemaker, and formerly worked as a legal secretary and as a medical secretary in Indianapolis and Greensburg for several years. She was also a hospice volunteer.
Susan was a 1966 graduate of Mitchell High School. She married Donald E. Fortner on Dec. 29, 1968. Susan was a member of the Heartland Church in Sharpsville.
Despite her health issues, she lived a full and joyous life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her parents of Mitchell; husband, Donald of Elwood; son, Jason A. (Shelbi) Fortner of Lebanon; daughter, Laura N. (Ken) Bubp of Noblesville; brother, Alan Merry of Dallas, Texas; sister, Eve (Ron) Neal of Anderson; and six grandchildren, Kate Fortner, Lucy Fortner, Matt Fortner, Elliott Susan Fortner, Julia Bubp, and Greta Bubp.

Otha Smith Jr., age 84, of Bedford, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.
Otha was born in Lawrence County on July 9, 1928, to Ruth Morrow. He married Annie Cason on Feb. 5, 1949, in Denver, Colo., and she survives.
Otha retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Tech Sergeant after 21 years of service, including being a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Annie Smith of Bedford; one daughter, Darlene Bacon and husband Ron of Bedford; two sons, Alvin Smith of Terre Haute and Otha D. Smith of Brownstown; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Petrowski, Brian Smith, Tyler Smith and Jessica Smith.
Otha was preceded in death by his mother; two brothers, and one grandson, William Horner.

Thomas H. Hungate Sr., age 82, of Williams, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August, 15, 2012, at 11:17 a.m. at Garden Villa in Bedford, surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was born on April 10, 1930, in DuQuion, Illinois, to Harvey H. and Ruth L. (Reid) Hungate, he graduated from the Missouri Military Academy in 1949, and he retired from the Jasper Chair Co. where he was the shipping supervisor.
Thomas married Mary Honeycutt on May 27, 1977, in Lawrence County, and she survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Teddy Forester.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, who he adored, Mary Hungate of Williams; he is also survived by several children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary looks forward to the day that she will be reunited with Thomas, so she can hold his hand and dance forever.
Burial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Mt. Olive Cemetery near Williams.
Family and friends will gather immediately after the burial, at Leatherwood Christian Church to celebrate Thomas’ life, all friends and family are invited to attend.

Patricia Joan Standley, 83, of Mitchell, died Thursday at Mitchell Manor Health and Rehabilitation.
Pat was born September 29, 1928. She was the daughter of William M. and Grace Terry West. She graduated from Orleans High School with the class of 1946. On June 26, 1948, she married Gorman “Bud” Standley. He preceded her in death on January 17, 2012.
She had been employed with the former Travlers Radio in Orleans and was a member of the Orleans United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail and her husband, Richard Schikora of Beavercreek, Ohio. Her son, Aaron Standley of Bedford survives. Her granddaughter, Sarah Beth and her husband, Bobby Moore of Mitchell survive along with great-grandchildren, Trevor, Taivon, Sophia Gail, Caitlin, and Quentin. Two sisters survive, Mary Ingram of Mooresville, Ind., and Teri West of Orleans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, Robert West and William West and two sisters, Alice McIntosh and Rita Reese.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Orleans.

He was a die setter at Central Foundry and a member of the Clearview Baptist Church.
He was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed woodworking and reading history.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He later worked as a Technical Writer in Electronics for 30 years at Crane Naval base at Crane. Bill attended New Prospect Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy (MacDonald) Houston of Bloomington; son, Jeff Houston of Costa Mesa, Calif.; daughter, Jennifer Houston of Victorville, Calif.; brother, Donald Houston of Bedford; and sister, Delores Jenkins of Clear Water, Fla.

Born Feb. 22, 1919, in Lawrence County, he was the son of James and Fannie (Harvey) New. He married Elizabeth Hollars on July 4, 1946, and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2011.

He retired after 45 years as sales manager and vice president of Indiana Limestone.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II.

He attended New Life Trinity Holiness Tabernacle in Bedford and was a member of the Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.

Harley Wade, 90, of Williams died at 9:29 p.m. on Sunday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.

Born Jan. 15, 1922, in Martin County, he was the son of Isaac and Eva (Stroud) Wade. He married Nellie Mae Hardwick on Dec. 20, 1947, who preceded him in death on May 19, of this year.

Harley retired from the Ordnance Department at the Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane which is now known as the Crane Army Ammunition Activity, in May 1976. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Harley enjoyed working on cars and rebuilt several motors for friends and family throughout the years. He loved doing things for other people.

He was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include three children, Judy Mitchell and husband Rick of Bedford, Kathy McKenzie and husband Ron of Magnolia, Ky., and Richard Wade and wife Theressa of Williams; four grandchildren, Derek Mitchell and wife Lauralee of Delphi; Matthew Wade of Williams; Kyle McKenzie and wife AJ and Justin McKenzie of Kentucky; five great-grandchildren, Avalee, Harlee, Tyler, David and Haylen; one sister, Ola Morrow and husband Herschel of Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.

William “Bill” Stewart, 92, of Ellettsville, passed away Wednesday at StoneBridge Health Campus in Bedford.

He was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Bloomington, the son of Elmer and Icey (Walls) Stewart. Bill married Rose Marie Juneau on July 18, 1942, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

William served in the United States Army during World War II and was in battles at Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He was wounded in Germany Sept. 15, 1944. He entered service March 5, 1942, and was Honorably Discharged Nov. 20, 1945. He was awarded the AMETO Medal, ATO Medal, World War II Victory Medal, the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion.

He grew up near Mitchell, and in his early life he worked as a farmer. For many years he worked as a mechanic for Noble King and Tom O’Daniel Ford in Bloomington. After retirement, he also drove a school bus.

William was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Lem Bush, a brother, Warren; four sisters, Margaret Bush, Naomi Bush, Mary Jones and Virginia Gobin; and one nephew.

He is survived by his wife; one brother, Paul Stewart of Lynchburg, Va.; 15 nieces, 15 nephews, and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Visitation was 4-7 p.m. Saturday with a funeral service at 7 p.m., all at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington, with Pastor James Roach officiating.

Cremation was chosen and a graveside service will be at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, with Pastor James Roach officiating.

Herman D. Crouch, 76, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, August 10, 2012, at the IU Health Hospice House.
Born September 27, 1935, in Bloomington, he was the son of Alva and Julia (Elkins) Crouch.
Herman was a car blocker at Woolery Stone Mill.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed golfing, fishing and painting.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nellie (Hancock) Crouch; two daughters, Teresa Ridgley (Jim) of Sparks, NV, and Arlena Jackson (Ross) of Bloomington; one sister, Bertha Honeycutt of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Michelle Ridgley of Sparks, NV, Stephanie Crouch, Amber Goodman (Eric), Nathan Jackson, and Stephanie Crouch’s mother, Cathy Bates (Alan), all of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews.
Herman was preceded in death by his son, Roger David Crouch; three brothers, Richard, Eddie and Jim Crouch; and his parents.
A private family graveside service will be Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Alma Mae Stidd passed away on August 10, 2012, in the Gosport Nursing Home. She was born on October 22, 1916, to Clarence and Erslie (Woelflin) Selzer in New Albany, IN. She graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1934 and shortly after, married Ben Stidd from the same class. They were married 66 years. The early years of her marriage were spent as a homemaker and the birth of three children in rather rapid succession. During World War II, the family moved frequently, mostly the result of Ben’s employment on a survey crew at various locations on war-related jobs. They purchased a small farm and moved to the Stinesville area in 1946. Alma worked at the RCA plant in Bloomington until her retirement. After retirement Alma and Ben took a trip around the world. Back at home they enjoyed improving their property on Lake Lemon and all the amenities the site provided. Alma was a member of the Adventist church most of her adult life.
Alma’s life revolved around her family, her parents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Nothing pleased her children and grandchildren more than a visit from Grandpa and Grandma. She could let you know when she was displeased by your behavior, but everyone knew that behind those rare occasions was a deep and abiding unconditional love. Her memory lives on in all of us.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; an older brother, Maurice; a grandson, Benjamin Andrew Stidd; and granddaughter, Jacque Nelson. She is survived by her younger sister, Wilma (Buzzaird) Sturgeon; three children, Benton, Raymond and Janet (Nelson) Drew; and 10 grandchildren.

Larry retired from Cook Inc. as a machinist.

Beatrice Ruth (Bower) Lee, 95, of Bedford, died at 9:20 p.m. August 1, at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born Jan. 3, 1917, in Marion County, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Beatrice May (Griffith) Bower. She married Harold H. Lee on May 6, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 1976.
She was a homemaker, volunteered at the Bedford Regional Medical Center and of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffery D. Lee of Indianapolis and Michael D. Lee and wife Carol of California; three grandchildren, Barry D. Lee of Georgia, Kerry D. Lee of Mooresville, and Katrina D. (Lee) Parker and husband Robert of Phoenix, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Dorothy Wimpleburg of Albany, one brother, Robert Bower of Lincoln, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Gerry D. Lee.

Eithel L. Turner

Eithel L. Turner, 89, of Bedford, died at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Bloomington Hospice House.
Born Feb. 13, 1923, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Brada K. and Rose (Adams) Turner. He married Marjorie Ann Bartlett on Oct. 19, 1945, and she died on Jan. 4, 1996.
He graduated from Needmore High School in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He took basic training in Tacoma, Wash., with the 44th Infantry Division. He served in front line combat operations as an Infantryman in the World War II European Theatre. He elevated in rank from Private to Master Sergeant serving as lst Scout Leader in severe combat missions including the Battle of the Bulge. He received an Honorary Discharge and returned home in 1945.
After the war ended, he worked at Clark Electric before going to General Motors. He retired from GM in 1977 as a fork lift operator in the maintenance department. He was a member of the UAW No. 440.
He was a member of the Dive Christian Church. He had served as an elder at the Dive Christian Church and Bartlettsville Christian Church for over 60 years.
Survivors include a son, Stephen Turner and wife, Sherry; a daughter, Karen Atchison and husband Mike all of Bedford; three grandchildren, Chris Atchison and wife Heidi, Cory Atchison and wife Kim all of Bedford and John Cummings and wife Lynessa of Salem; three great-grandchildren, Faith Cummings, Will Cummings and Alexa Atchison; and a brother, Frank Turner and wife Mona of Oolitic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and four brothers, Dewey, Vestal, Harold and Noble.
Eithel enjoyed travel and he and Marjorie sometimes wintered in Arizona. He loved his children, family, Gospel music and the Sonshiners Quartet following them around the country. He enjoyed watching IU basketball and especially the BNL Lady Stars.
He suffered a stroke nine years ago but did not let it hinder or defeat him. He learned to write with his left hand, care for himself and enjoyed riding his four wheel scooter around his property and nearby woods.
A central focus of his latter years was his faith in God’s Word, God’s direction and His timing.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Dive Christian Church with Johnny Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in Bartlettsville Christian Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of the Gillen Post No. 33 American Legion.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Alfred E. Fletcher, 83, of Bedford, died at 3 a.m. on Tuesday at Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Oct. 9, 1928, in Bedford, he was the son of Noble and Katie (Crider) Fletcher. He married Deloros Christine Sluder on Aug. 27, 1950 and she preceded him in death on April 16, 2007.
He was a graduate of Bedford High School with the class of 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard. He was the owner/operator of Mid-Town Foods in Bedford retiring in 1992.
Survivors include a son, Alan Fletcher of Bedford; two daughters, Debra Reynolds and husband Aaron of Minneapolis, Minn., and Crystal Arsenault and husband Jeff of Oolitic; grandchildren, Jason Reynolds of Minneapolis, Ashley Barlar and husband Jonathan of Tampa, Fla., Kayti Patterson and husband Kyle of Bedford, T.J. Arsenault and fiancé Sara Donahue of Bloomington, and Heather Deckard and husband Mike of Harrodsburg; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lottie Marlin and husband Roy B. of Chattanooga, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Cecil and William Fletcher; and a sister Hazel Fields.

Ronal Dean Brock, 71, of Bedford, died at 1:37 p.m. on Tuesday at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born July 28, 1941, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Ralph B. and Mary Lois (Tolliver) Brock.
He retired from RCA after working for 35 years as a materials handler.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, served in the National Guard, and was a member of the Bedford Boat & Sportsman’s Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include eight cousins, Susan Elaine Hancock, Jerri Lynn Stewart and Sara Ellen Snyder, all of Bedford, Sharon K. O’Connor of Arizona, Patricia Ann Bennett of Texas, Mary R. Paulson of Georgia, William J. McHugh of Sarasota, Fla., and Jay R. Baker of Zionsville; and life-long friend, Mike Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five uncles; five aunts; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Our precious loved one, Deborah Jane Miller, 61, of Mitchell, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday.
Deborah was the daughter of Labon Kern, Jr. and Mary Ruth (Taylor) Kern, and was born on April 7, 1951, in Lawrence County. She married Samuel Joseph Miller on July 1, 1972, in Bedford, and he survives.
She was a graduate of Mitchell High School, Class of 1969, and attended Oakland City University.
She was employed at Shelby Trucking as a secretary.
She was of Protestant Faith.

Daniel Edwin Dack, 59, of Shoals, died at 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born Aug. 25, 1952, in Moline, Ill., he was the son of Edwin Eugene and Cheryl (Binder) Dack. He married Pamela Cummings on Sept. 4, 1976, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Chesterton High School with the class of 1970. He was a self-employed professional chauffeur and had attended the Fayetteville Baptist Church.
He was an avid motorcycle rider who took his wife anywhere she wanted to go. He loved to watch Chicago Bears football.
He loved his wife, daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela, of Shoals; three daughters, Amelia Allen and husband Robbie of Leesville, their children, Connor, Bailee and Daxton; Jennifer Crites and husband Paul of Springville, their children, Logan and Jacob; and Hannah Wade and husband Kyle of Heltonville, their children, Lillian and Emily; his mother, Cheryl Dack of Valparaiso; and four sisters, Cynthia Gustava of Katy, Texas, Sandra Mason of Chesterton, Marlia Hodge of Taylors, S.C., and Claudia Miller of Valparaiso.
He was preceded in death by his father.

Louis Vernon Compton, 87, of Pekin, Ill., passed away at 8:13 a.m., on Tuesday at his residence.
Born July 12, 1925, in Washington County, he was the son George F. and Maude (Green) Compton, He married Mary Ellen Hayes Sept. 27, 1947, in Lawrence County, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Warren (Gayle) Compton of Selawik, Alaska, Randall (Crystal) Compton of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Elizabeth (Joe) Crane of Bedford and Alyce Joyce Compton of Eureka, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Noelle Crane of Bedford, Adam (Charity) Compton of Troy, Mo., Danielle (Scott) Wallace of Vernal, Utah, Bethany and Caleb Compton of Selawik, Alaska, Paige, Kent and Lauren Compton of Fairbanks, Alaska and Marcie (Alex) Bourne of North Pole, Alaska; eight great-grandchildren Brooke, Ethan, Jonathon Compton, all of Troy, Mo., Aiden, Elisha and Isaiah Wallace, all of Vernal, Utah, and Summer, and Isla Bourne, both of North Pole, Alaska.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Louis was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin where he had been an interim pastor.
He served as a weatherman in the United States Army Air Corps from 1945-48 where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 1991. Prior to this, he worked as a machinist for Perfect Circle Piston Rings in Hagerstown. Louis was also an interim Pastor for several churches in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
Louis loved aviation and talking about the Arctic. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and was an avid gardener.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, with the Rev. D. Tim Najpaver officiating, with visitation one hour prior to the funeral.
Additional service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at White River Baptist Church in rural Bedford with Pastor Lindy Hopkins officiating. Visitation will be prior to the funeral. Burial will be in White River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born Aug. 8, 1939, in East Oolitic, he was the son of Coy and Hazel (Sullivan) Johnson. He married Geraldine Craig on Dec. 22, 1956, and she survives.
He was a limestone quarry worker and trucking business owner, retiring in the late eighties.
He was of the Pentecostal faith, having attended the House of Prayer, Fayetteville.
He loved to hunt rabbits, squirrels and mushrooms with his grandsons.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine of East Oolitic; one daughter, Sherry Spires of East Oolitic; two grandchildren, Robert (Cindy) Summitt and Cody Spires, both of East Oolitic; one sister, Betty Smith of Peerless; two brothers, Lloyd Johnson of Bedford and Richard Johnson, of East Oolitic; several nieces and nephews; and his dog Lucky.

Born March 21, 1935, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Harris R. and Garnett (Mundy) Mundy. She married Robert Eugene Miller on Nov. 27, 1952.
Donna retired from Dollar General after 16 years.
She graduated from Huron High School in 1953, and attended the Orleans Church of Christ.

Mary D. Smale, 81, of Bedford, died Tuesday in Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 7, 1930, in Cornwall Ontario, Canada and raised in South Wales, she was the daughter of Percy Augustus and Lily (Robinson) Morgan. She loved and married Harold “Gene” Smale on June 25, 1950. She had worked for J.C. Penney Co. and was a member of the Bartlettsville Christian Church. She was always the homemaker and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Gene, of Bedford; three sons, Rick W. Smale and wife, Cindy, James D. Smale and wife, Angie, David Allen Smale all of Bedford; one daughter Terri Lynn Padgett and husband, John, of Bedford; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way and one sister, Irene Talbot and husband, Ken, of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Pelham, Billy, Percy, Lil and Doris; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Smale.

Donald D. Lutes, 64, of Burlington, Mich., passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospice Residence.
Don was born Dec. 21, 1947, in Bedford, Ind. to William and Gertrude (Stancombe) Lutes.
After graduating from Heltonville High School, Don joined the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic.
Don was employed by the City of Battle Creek as a firefighter. At the time of his retirement, he was acting lieutenant at No. 5 Station in Urbandale.
He was an avid ice hockey fan following the Detroit Red Wings.
At the time of his illness, he was acting as an off ice official for the Junior K-Wings team at Wings West.
Don is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah; brother William Leroy Lutes (Ellen) of Savannah, Ga.; sister Phyllis Winona Norman (Lawrence) of Bedford, Ind.; Aunt Rose Pridemore (Wayne) of Norman, Ind.; stepchildren, James Fisk III (Kara) of Battle Creek and Jennifer (Fuller) Owens (Craig) of Paw Paw; two children from a previous marriage, Christy and Brian Platz; former daughter-in-law, Kristen Platz; grandchildren, Julianne Platz, Tyler, Jared and Lindsey Fisk, Ashley Fuller, and Cody, Cory and Carli Owens.
Graveside services were held at Fort Custer National Cemetery.

Edward T. Breedlove, age 94, Elizabethtown, Ky., formerly of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday at Elizabethtown Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, Ky. Edward had lived in Hodgenville, Ky., for the last year.
Edward is survived by five children, Marilyn Hiday of Hodgenville, Ky., Janet Parker of Hickman, Ky., Rita Groce of Hodgenville, Ky., Debbie White of Greenfield, and Eddie Breedlove of Ohio; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Robbins Breedlove; one grandson, Ronald Hiday; four brothers and four sisters.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Eugene loved to fish and listen to bluegrass and country music. Eugene was a great person and always friendly. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

He was born April 20, 1931, in Bedford, the son of Ralph Kenneth and Bessie Louise Robinson Wray. He married Yvonne Hedge on Sept. 29, 1950, in Bedford, and she survives.
He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987 in inspection. He was an ordained minister and had pastored at Hoosier Hills Baptist Church of Columbus, Fellowship Baptist of Mount Auburn, and Spurnica Baptist Church in Brown County.
He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church, where he taught the Forever Young Bible Class.

Marcella Ann Brock, 78, Medora, died at 12:02 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour.
Born May 24, 1934, in Clearspring, she was the daughter of Chance and Vera Ilene (Lutes) Curry, both of whom preceded her in death. She married George Lee Brock on June 7, 1952, in Oolitic. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1998.
She had been employed with Boyatt Restaurant and also as secretary of Rumph’s Bulk plant from 1952-1954. She retired from the United States Postal Service in 1992 as a window clerk after 36 years of dedicated service at the Medora and Seymour post offices. She assisted her husband George in the operation of George’s Marathon Service Station from 1954 to 1988.
She was a remarkable cake baker and cake decorator, as well as excelling in floral design. She loved to go shopping, traveling and watching NASCAR.
Survivors include one son, Steven Ray (Bonnie) Brock of Medora; one daughter Karen Lea Brock of Medora; two brothers, Myron Dean (Brenda) Curry of Medora and Robert Eugene (Janet) Curry of Danville; three grandchildren, Adrienne (Ronnie II) Blackburn of Bedford, Tony (Stephanie) Brock of Oolitic, and Adam Brock of Bedford; four great-grandchildren, Clayton Gene Blackburn, Cody Dale Blackburn, Christian Lee Blackburn and Gracelynn Jo Brock. one daughter-in-law, Debbie (Ray Mark) Lindsey of Bedford; three sisters-in-law, Selma (Terry) Verble of Medora, Jo Ann Foist of Seymour and Jewel (Randal) Miser of Bloomington; one brother-in-law, Ephie (Vivian) Brock of Medora, and one aunt, Ruth (Thomas) Fox. She also is survived by Jimmy Curry Jr. and his wife Debbie and family, who provided assistance to her since her husband’s death in 1998. Much love was shared with this family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Geneva Eglen; brothers-in-law Bud Brock, Ed Brock and Joseph H. Brock, and several nieces and nephews.

James Blythe “Jimbo” Bowman, 46, of Bloomington passed away on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, at the IU Health Hospice House after fighting colon cancer for 5 months.
Jimbo was born on Aug. 8, 1965, in Bloomington and was the son of Bill and Margie (Morris) Bowman. He worked for General Electric for 10 years and later was a painter and remodeler. Jimbo enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, and being outdoors.
Survivors include four daughters, Rhea Johnson (Daniel) of Scott AFB, IL, Lacie Davis (Kendall) of Bedford, Tia Feller (Zach Deckard) of Bloomington, and Chelcie Bowman of Decatur, TN. Also surviving are his parents of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Chandler, Camryn, and Cooper Johnson and Gabriel Davis; two sisters, Jenny Bowman and Amy Carroll, both of Bloomington; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and love of his life Rita “Ritz” Gardner (2011) and his grandparents.
Jimbo was loved by all who knew him. He was a loving and giving person who brought laughter to everyone who met him. He will be missed daily by all his family and many friends.

Richard D. Pritchett, 85, of Judah, passed away at 4:29 p.m. on Thursday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born July 22, 1927, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Clifford Joe and Mabel (Harden) Pritchett. He married Sylvia Baker on October 28, 1950, and she survives.
Richard was the origina l co-founder of Pritchett Brothers Construction with his brother, Charles. He was a founding member and past president of Lawrence County Home Builders Association, a member of Shriner’s International, a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of the Bedford Masonic Lodge No. 14, F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, and a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.
He loved watching sports, especially those in which his grandchildren participated, spending time with his family, and traveling the world with his wife. He enjoyed being outside working in his yard and was proud of his community. He had many friends he enjoyed.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia of Judah; five sons, Ronald D. He was formerly married to Dora Mae Pigate, who died in 2007.
Joe graduated from Williams High School in 1960, and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine USS Trumpetfish. Following his service to his Country, he returned home and was a car salesman for Laverne Terry Ford. He later went into business for himself, and built and operated a new car dealership at the East edge of town, Joe’s Chrysler City, for several years. He then was employed at National Gypsum Company for 32 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a member of the Shoals American Legion Hanson McFee Post 61, the V.F.W., and the Shoals Eagles Lodge. Joe was also a member of White River Lodge No. 332, F&AM
He is survived by two daughters, Eloise Rene Obermiller and husband Mark and Tangela Hope Minton and companion Tim Dixon. Joe had five grandchildren, Christopher Laporga, Janelle Deck, Lindsey Laporga, Nick Minton, and Dylan Minton.
He is also survived by stepchildren Thomas and Nancie French, Tracy and Karla French, David and Debra LaBarge, Jack and Roxann LaBarge, and Angela and Dan Dunkelberg; 18 stepgrandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Harley Bratton, of Shoals, and two sisters, Margaret Bailey, of Indianapolis, and Jane Holt, of Henryville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lucien, Frank, and John Bratton; and three sisters, Sue Rehl, Pauline Bratton, and Flossie Bratton, who died in infancy.

Nancy Jo (Whaley) Sheets, 61, of Bloomington, passed from this life on Thursday afternoon. She was the daughter of the late William “Bill” and Waneta (Faulk) Whaley.
Nancy was born on Oct. 5, 1950, in Solsberry. She attended school at Solsberry and Eastern High School, graduating from Bloomington High School in 1968.
Nancy had worked with the Danners Department Store and General Electric.
As a child she attended Sunday School at the Union Church near her birthplace, while a current member of the McDoel Baptist Church.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Angela Darlene Sheets-Lester, Amy Sheets and Andrea Fessel, all of Princeton, W.Va.; and son, Billy Joe Chambers of Louisiana.
Nancy will be missed and always remembered by her friends and surviving siblings, brothers, Darold (Vivian), Dude and Jim (Carol) Whaley, all of Solsberry, Bob (Alice) and Paul Whaley of Whitehall, Leroy Whaley of Smithville, and Donnie (Jeri) Whaley of Springville; her sisters, Sue (Bob) Watkins of Bloomington, Helen (Phil) Sims of Greenwood, Martha (John) Mathews of Norman, Darlene (Tony) Keller of Spencer and half sister, Ramona Peoples of Lyons; grandchildren Tyler, Abbigail, Ayden, Tabitha, Sara and Russell, who were the love of her life; 13 nieces, 14 nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephew..
She was preceded in death by both her parents; sister, Ola (Whaley) Underwood; half brother, Grover and sister-in-law, Janet Whaley.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 in Bloomington with the Rev. Dan Yeager officiating. Burial will be at Greene County Chapel Cemetery near Stanford.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour preceding the services on Monday.

Roy David Budd, 78, of Mitchell, passed away at 6:57 p.m. Wednesday at Mitchell Manor Living and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Aug. 14, 1933, in Bedford, he was the son of Harry and Echo Forest (Donica) Budd. He married Joan Martin Sept. 28, 1957.
He had been a food broker and retired from Carpenter Body Works. Roy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a former member of the Mitchell-Grissom Kiwanis Club.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Budd of Mitchell; daughters, Diane Budd and Donna Budd, both of Mitchell; sons, David Budd of Twentynine Palms, Calif., Bobby Budd, Pasadena, Md,, and Johnny Budd of Osgood; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; siblings, Mildred Davis of New Castle, Clifford Budd of Batesville, John Budd of Florida, Morris Budd of Greensburg and Marilyn Porter of Jeffersonville
His parents; brother, Delbert Budd; and sister, Linda Budd, preceded him in death.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rick Eldred officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.

Loretta M. Lee, 60, of Springville, died at 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday at Monroe Hospital in Bloomington.
Born April 13, 1952, in Linton, she was the daughter of Charles and Hazel B. (Harper) Dishman. She married James M. Lee in 1999 and he survives.
She retired from Indiana University in 2011 as a supervisor of RPS/EO/Willkie. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodges of Bedford.
She enjoyed working outside, trucking with Mike and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, James M. of Springville; three daughters, Regina Meyer and husband Roger of Martinsville, Tracy Hall and husband Scott of Cloverdale and Janeen Gardner of Memphis, Tenn.; three sons, Russell Flake and wife Monica of Bloomington, J.D. Lee of Arizona and Mickey Lee of California; two granddaughters, Erica Kincade and husband Byron of Stanford and Brittani Burton of Martinsville; three grandsons, Teddy Bunch of Spencer, Brenan Hall of Cloverdale and Corban Meyer of Martinsville; one great-granddaughter, Adelyn Kincade; one brother, Marvin Joe Dishman and wife Karan of Springville; one sister, Bonnie Jo Eads and husband David of Bloomington; and one half sister, Linda Baker and husband Bob of Greenwood.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darrell Dishman.

Morgan Dyan (Beaver) Hutton, 30 of Bedford, died Saturday in Bedford.
Born May 1, 1982, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of David and Cindy (Schmidt) Beaver. She married Kyle Hutton on Oct. 29, 2005, and he survives.
She was the Director of Advocacy and Public Policy for the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. She was an Executive Director for Hoosier Voices of I-69 and was a lobbyist on the Indiana State floor.
Survivors include her husband, Kyle, of Bedford; her parents, David Beaver of Indianapolis and Cindy Beaver of Brownsburg; her brother, Kyle Beaver of Indianapolis; grandparents, James and Shirley Fork of Brownsburg and Harold Schmidt of Iowa; father- and mother-in-law, Rick and Sally Hutton of Springville; two brothers-in-law, Kory and Kolby of Springville; and grandparents-in-law, Richard and Velva Hutton of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Max and Susanna Beaver and maternal grandparents, Farrell and Elizabeth Hayes.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Richard Lanham officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.

Born March 24, 1928, in Bedford, she was the daughter of Ora and Lula (Acton) Roberts. She married Lawrence Mosier on Dec. 7, 1943, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1987.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Leatherwood Christian Church and Order of the Easter Star Ladies Auxiliary.

Laura Michelle (Fain) Duncan, 38, of Mitchell, passed away at 11 p.m. on Saturday from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born on July 30, 1973, in Pine Bluff, Ark., to Randall and Betty (Henry) Fain.
Laura was employed at NWSC Crane as an Acquisition Management Specialist, she also was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, and she was a U.S. Army Veteran, she attended Tulip Street Christian Church in Mitchell.
Survivors include her children, Jordan Randall Duncan and Joshua Daniel Duncan, both of Mitchell, along with their father, Roger Duncan of Mitchell; her parents, Randall L. and Betty Fain of Pearland, Texas; one sister, Leah Meredith Whitton and husband Pastor Cecil Whitton of Pearland, Texas; nephews, Hudson Whitton and Houston Whitton; and niece, Hinsley Whitton, all of Pearland, Texas; and maternal grandmother, Ella Henry of Pine Bluff, Ark.
Laura was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bascome and Suzanne Fain, and Hudson Henry.
Private Funeral services will be held at Cresthaven Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
